Brian,

While she does not train in an Ercoupe, Julie Keane in Ramona is a great
instructor. She is a CFI (so all your hours would count toward the private)
and also a Designated Pilot Examiner. Her team trained my nephew who
completed his Sport Pilot certification in an Evektor SportStar. He was so
enthusiastic that he then went on to complete his Private with Julie Keane
Aviaiton. I have recommended others to her. A friend, who is now
completing his training as an Air Force pilot received his private at her
school before getting his 2nd Lt. rank (he was an ordinance Sgt while in
Iraq). He is now at Vance flying the Texan II on his way to tankers. She
may be too far south for you, but if you could block some time and fly for
several days at a time, you cannot go wrong. That is what my AF friend did
and he completed his hours in two weeks of steady work (he already had 30
flying in Michigan). Ramona (KRNM) has a control tower, so you will get
great radio practice too.

Good luck,
John
