I recently did a wing pull AD. The owner had the plane all ready when I
arrived. Fairings off,
interior removed, cotter keys out, etc. 2.5 hours later I had the wings
back
on and the
log filled out. Add maybe 1-1.5 hours if had to pull the fairings and
interior stuff. Then
add another 1-1.5 hours to torque bolts, cotter keys, fairings, etc.

I have pulled a fair number of Ercoupe wings and have my favorite sockets
and end wrenches
for getting at the bolts. I also have an pretty good idea of what can go
wrong.

The big bolts can be stuck due to old grease--or no grease and corrosion.
There can
be misalignment and the bolts might have been driven in sometime in the
past. Pitot-static
connections might be deteriorated and require renewing. Electrical
connections made up with
crimp splices rather than the proper connections. Fairing screws can be
frozen-holes oversized,
etc etc.

Actually pulling the wings and replacing them needs two people. That will
add another
hour or so to the labor bill for the second guy.

I feel that the 5 hour labor estimate applies to experienced Ercoupe wing
pullers where
everything goes pretty well. Double that if the plane and AD is dropped at
an FBO
that doesn't do Coupes.

Add some more time if you bring your plane to and old guy like me who
doesn't move
too quickly any more. <G> But I work cheap so I guess that evens thing
out.
