Thanks for all the suggestions - and yes my mag switch does work - I use it to shut down as a rule of thumb so that I know the mags are dead and properly shorted. I have asked my mech to investigate the problem anyway - the low speed idle circuit seems to be the most reasonable explanation to the issue. I'll keep the list posted on my progress. Cheers!
