I recently installed a Microair T-2000 transponder along with a Com 760 in my G model.  The com works great, but the transponder gave me problems from day one.  It would work perfectly, but only for about 10-15 minutes.  Other problems followed.  I sent the unit back to Microair, which was an experience in itself, since they are in Australia and have no service facility in the US.  After a 16 day wait, I got the unit back.  I installed it and experienced the same problem.  I requested that they send me a new unit, which they did.  After installation, it too developed the same problem.  Microair and I have been in constant communications with regard to the problem.  I have checked, double checked and triple checked the wiring, finally pulling the harness for the encoder out and resoldering each connection.  It is O.K.  Heat has been discounted.  The unit operates with voltage from 10-33 and is impervious to spikes, low or high voltage.  It seems now that the 2 microprocessors are not talking to each other after so many reply signals are received.  The unit apparently goes into overload and locks up.  After a while (15 minutes or so) if the transponder is recycled it will operate properly until it, again, overloads.

Microair has been very cooperative in trying to solve the problem.  I just wondered if anyone else has experienced the same dilemma.  If I can get the unit to work, I really don't want to replace it with another brand since it is one of the rare transponders that will fit in the panel and clear the header tank.
