----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----Bob,
Hope this message gets through. The Ercoupe service manual details two methods for raising the aircraft for either the nose or main landing gear. These methods are great for normal servicing and maintenance if that's what your planning to do. However for me both methods seemed too unstable for the long term considering the amount of time it will take for parts procurement and labor involved in rebuilding.
To solve this I created cribbing to keep the aircraft off the ground and in a stable condition while the landing gear was removed. The construction materials consisted of 2x4's, 1/2 inch plywood, wood glue, screws, and thick rubberized padding material.
For the nose cribbing, the lower cowl is an excellent pattern to use for matching the fuselage curvature. Place the cribbing just aft of the firewall.
The wing cribbing you will have to take some measurements for the correct wing angle for the pad area. Use the wing main spar inboard of the main landing gear leg as the site for your wing pad placement.
As a safety note: with the aircraft raised in this condition even though it is more stable than the jacking methods mentioned in the service manual, do not climb onto the aircraft. Hope this helps.
