All that's required to have a real emergency is for the prop governor to fail. This will cause the prop to go to high rpm(flat pitch) engine speed quickly exceeds max rpm. The only way to bring the rpm down is to slow the plane to just above stall-and that may not do it. Had this happen in a Douglas B-26.  9772M
