Hi Bob, I don't know when you last used the unit, but about 21 August, 1999, something called the "GPS Week Rollover" occurred. This meant that the little electronic register that clocked up the number of weeks since the GPS system went live (1976 sometime, I think) overflowed and reset to 0. This caused no harm to some units. Some, like my Garmin 90, had to be reset by a special startup procedure, some needed a software upgrade, and some had to be thrown out, depending on the age of the unit. Perhaps try contacting B-K to see if this may be causing a problem with your unit. I have a like new Bendix-King Handheld GPS NAV COM that has not been used for about 3 yrs. The database is dated 1996. Took it out of storage and it will not access the GPS system otherwise it works. It was working when put in storage. Is it possible that the outdated database will stop it from accessing the GPS navagation functions. Can't even get the map to com uo using eather the internal or external ant. I get a message " not enough signal for navigation . Any ideas. ????? This is only my backup com radio & GPS but I would like to be able to use it as it was quite expensive when I bought it new in 1966. Iam using a Garmin 196 now as primary GPS which works great.
