The down side of the snubber cable is that it does not allow the nose gear to fully extend....necessary with the longer double fork.
But if you still have the sissors "fender" cowling installed, which is supposed to streamline the extended nose gear, and the limiting cable, then the fender caused severe drag instead of decreasing drag, as designed. So it is suggested to remove the "fender " if you have the cable installed.
With the single fork, the cable is not required or recommended, as now the nose wheel is up in the prop wash, again interfering with the air flow.....
However, some folks like the cable in both cases, as it does keep the nose wheel higher on flare ....less likely to scrub it off when correcting from the crab after landing in a crosswind.
As I have a double fork installed and the snubber cable, I removed my "Fender", recognizing that it acted like an additional rudder, and increased drag.....seems like maybe as much as 5 mph.....
Careful adjustment of the nose gear push rod to make the wheel straight when trying to fly strraight makes a lot of difference....if even slightly turned, it will act like an additional rudder and cause the coupe to skid thru the air.......again loosing airspeed, causing fuel loss from differential pressures on the wings, loss of airspeed, and funny acting airplane on both take off and landing as the wheel is not properly rigged with the controls.
You should be able to pull the coupe forward in a straight line, and then observe the ailerons....they should line up with the trailing edge of the wing, and the rudders should trail the vertical stabilizers, and the control wheels be horozontal.
Fix it all and the coupe will fly hands off, ball centered, at about 105 mph.....
