Hi all, I'm looking
for some advice . . .
I'm in the process
of rebuilding a 415-C that I acquired in pieces. Its got a Continental C-85 with tapered crank.
I recently took the projects 1A90-CF McCauley to a prop shop for an
inspection and balancing but found it was past minimum limits . . .
so, I'm now in the market for a new prop.
My Coupe has the
narrow trim tab and the original C-75 was modified in accordance
Continental Service Bulletin, M47-16 (dtd 6-7-48) to make it a
C-85. A small number of props are approved according to Type
Cert. A-718, but a metal McCauley or Sensenich prop seems to make the
most sense. Listed are the McCauley 1A90 CF, a McCauley 1B90 CM
(the McCauley web site is down), or a Sensenich M76AK-2 (Sensenich's web site
lists a 76AK-46 standard or 76AK-48 cruise prop).
With a 415-C, I'll
probably be operating close to gross wt. most of the time and I'm based
in Michigan. I figured a climb-type prop would be my best bet but I'm
not that knowledgeable on props (at this point, anyway). Anybody have any
thoughts or recommendations on which make/type makes the most sense for
me.
regards and Happy
New Year all, Ross
