I've noticed on my recently acquired Ercoupe that
the cabin fresh air intake, intakes directly from the engine compartment. There
is no shut off associated with it, although I can pull on cabin heat which gets
air from another location, still in the engine compartment. I cannot
detect any exhaust leaking but am getting a lot of engine compartment smell,
apparently from that source. Is that normal? Am I
overlooking something? It tends to leave my clothes smelling
slightly like the engine after flying for a while.
