I had the same type of problem 30 years ago with Beechcraft West in Fresno, and have not let anyone else touch my airplane but me since. Yes, I am slow, and may miss an item once in a while, but at least I know what has been done, and that it is complete when I get through.
I am probably slower than you are, Lynn. But I am the one flying it, and take precautions,
like inviting all in sundrey to look over the bird. Then I go into the first couple flights after
the annual with the idea that something could go wrong. No blasting off to somewhere
in dubious weather, etc. Just taxi test to assure engine operation and an hour hanging
around the pattern.
