Well, Thanks to all for the information on the nose gear cable... There certainly seems to be worthy arguments both pro and con. My plane is an E model, which features a bit more flare on landing than most. I recently purchased new main gear donuts and will remove the cable upon installing those. I will try it a few times with calm winds and the assistance of a friend with a video camera and see for myself what, if any distance remains from the nose gear upon touchdown on the mains. I will keep everyone informed on that experiment.
