Because of this letter, I probably will never have another posting read or answered.

Actually from this quarter, your note is much appreciated and represents a fine
contribution.

In the last 2 weeks, there have been two instances of people getting a bit testy over answers or more precisely the lack of responses to questions they have posed.  In turn some of the responses to those people have been equally testy.

I believe the problem is one of expectations. Someone called this list a 'service.' That
implies that they don't quite get that it's just a bunch of Ercoupe guys getting together
to talk Coupes.

It isn't even the EOC (the official type club). In some ways, I think it may be more
effective, but the point is that the list doesn't owe anybody anything. That said, I owe
my Ercoupe flying career to the people here, so I've gotten way over-paid :-)

Lets all stop and take a deep breath calm down and  remember why this venue exists and
why we all have ‘coupes.

Perfect advice.

Its difficult for me to understand how such an otherwise genteel group of people with a common love for what everybody else considers an oddball airplane can get so bent out of shape.

In general when the party is going along nicely and someone comes into the room
being what could be perceived as rude and nasty, he gets his backside re-aligned.
It is the way of us humans. Remember our old 'friend' Glen 'Psycho' Ward?

With that said, why don’t we all keep these two things in mind:
People posting questions, remain calm.  When somebody that knows the answer or even has a good guess reads your
            question; they will answer.

Yes, and keep in mind sometimes they might not feel comfortable answering. If I were
an A&P, I might be less than thrilled about telling you how to adjust your own mixture
(illegal) or encouraging you to do as I sometimes do, and set it with the prop turning
(your estate might sue me).

You folks that know the answers; help us novices out.

It being just past Sun-N-Fun and the flying season having just started, there may be
a bit of a lag...

All of us get paid for our work the same; we all get to look up and see ‘coupes in the air.

My experience is that the Ercoupe community is one of the best going, and the
gang on this list are the best of that best.
