I just checked one 5:00X4 single
bearing nose wheel
Although both wheel halves are having the same part number, only one has a hole in it. However, the parts seem interchangeable by appearance and dimensions. I guess someone either did not pay attention when assembling the wheel or one halve was bad and has been replaced with another "left" or "right" halve.

I think there is nothing to worry about -
especially since it was working fine. I would not even suggest that the plane is
unairworthy, because it is using the original parts. Structurally, this should
not be a problem either. When one halve is fine with the hole, then the
other one should be fine too.
