Another possible thought
about engine temps. The fact that
your mixture is wired full rich is no guarantee it’s really full rich.
Mine was wired full rich
the day the filaments from the air filter clogged the internal air passages
from the (I think) venturi to the mixture / float chamber. When I descended from high altitude, my
engine became so lean it was rough.
Carb heat richened it up enough to get the seven miles to my destination
airport.
We pulled the carb and
the AI found those air passages clogged.
He cleaned them, took the mixture apart and cleaned it, stopped the
plates together so they had smooth contact and reassembled it. (About 1.5-2 hours shop time.) From then on, I had a mixture control
that worked perfectly (even though it reacted a bit slowly). See the FAQ mixture discussion at http://www.ercoupe.org
I would NOT leave the
mixture wired full rich.
