O-rings use red aviation hydraulic fluid.

Remove the rubber stop pad and jack up aircraft. Let gear fully extend and
squirt fluid into fill plug until it is full.

If I were rebuilding the gear I would replace the O-rings with the cups
and
replace the donuts if they needed it or not. The parts are cheap and I
don't
think you could call your gear rebuild unless it was done. The cups use
dot
3 brake fluid.

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Main Landing Gear (strut)

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any
advice in this forum.]----

I'm in the process of rebuilding my MLG struts. I need the following
information.

1. What type of fluid should I use in the struts (I have the original
style
o-rings)?

2. What's the proper procedure in filling the struts with fluid so I don't
over or under-fill them?

3. How can I verify whether the rubber shock pads are good? Is there some
MIN-MAX dimension in thickness or ??

4. OK, what's the trick (or the right tool) to re-install the snap ring on
the cylinder that retains the cap (sorry if my terms are not properly
named).

Thanks for all the help you keep giving us new Ercoupers.
