I just reworked my Main Landing Gear (MLG) struts with new seals and donuts. But I have question regarding the inner aluminum sheet metal fairing around the struts. Is it really necessary or can I leave it off and save some weight? I know the outer aluminum fairings are necessary but the inner look to be somewhat redundant. What you say you experts?
