I dont know if anyone has answered this yet, but the FARs say that you cannot operate a transponder (at all) unless in the previous 24 months it has been tested by a certified repair station. They hook up a pitot static box to your plane and take it up to the maximum certified altitude that your plane's altimeter is certified for. It's usually 20K feet for small GA planes. They also check the accuracy of your altimeter at the same time, and do a system leak check too. All for the low price of about 150.00 Jan Z ========================================================================== ==== To leave this forum go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm Search the archives on http://escribe.com/aviation/coupers-tech/
