Bob;
Thanks for sharing this with us and it's a good reminder that potential buyers MUST order up the CD ROM and review it as part of their prebuy inspection.  I'm not saying that the seller has done anything wrong in your deal, but we all need to realize that the formerly popular D model is not on the top of the hit parade any longer, and folks may not be telling all they know.  A few years ago, Ercoupes were sold as D models even though the paperwork said differently.  It's amusing to find that the same excuses are now being used for the paperwork snafus.

I'm a bit confused because you say that the records were never changed with the FAA, but the CD says something different.  I think you may need to call the registration dept. or visit with an Inspector before complete the purchase of this plane.  If it was changed to a D model, then it can't be brought back.  If you're looking to use this as a Sport you may be in for a surprise down the line.

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Help regarding 415 Airworthy list

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----

I have a similar problem with the registration and airworthiness. The aircraft I put a down payment
on has a registration and airworthiness that says its a 415C with a C 85 series engine, so I ordered the background CD and it states that a conversion was made in 1982 to a D and included a 0200 engine, however the records were never updated with the FAA so the FAA lists it as a 415C. Current owner states he understands its a 415 C/D which I know is not really a model (could be a 415 CD), but the registration and airworthiness do not show the update to a D. Does the FAA or others go by registration and airworthiness listed in the airplane and in the FAA records or would they check further, back to 1982?

Any comments would help!!!!!

Thanks
Bob
