You're right, John. I forgot that
the object of the exercise is to assess mag operation. Even if both are
sub-optimal but they effect the tach equally, the drop will be the same. Thus
establishing that the two independent ignition systems are functioning sufficiently
the same to go flying. The two independent systems being mandated by the
Federal Government at a time (ca. 1920) when ignition systems were
insufficiently reliable. This has, of course, changed. And does any one know
the complete words to the song "Get Out and Get Under?" ("To
Fix Your Automobile" - again, ca. 1920)
