Scott,

I'd think that John Cooper (Skyport) is right about that being a climb
prop on a C-90. A 7148 is a climb prop on a C-85 after all.

Consider this: In cruise at 2400 rpm, my C-85 with a climb prop would
burn 5.4 gph. In bopping around doing takeoffs and landings, stalls,
turns, etc. - the kind of stuff you do on a biennial - I'd get 4- 4.5
gph. Your tach versus clock numbers show significant
below-reference-rpm time during the flight.

Based on my C-85 experience, I find it hard to believe that a C-90 could
burn 6.5 to 7 gph in a bopping around biennial. The numbers they cite
are what I'd expect in a C-152 with a 115 hp engine.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just check your climb rate and cruise speed
to see that they are about what you had before all this.

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] proper fuel burn

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following
any advice in this forum.]----

Coupers, my A2-A has a freshly overhauled C90. I have
32 hours on it at this time. I used it this weekend
for my bi-annual and ended up flying for about 2.45
hours, according to my stop watch and 2.1 hours on the
tach. I refueled and put in 11.4 gal. in the wing
tanks and none in the nose tank. I never add to the
nose tank. Then upon calculations this works out to
about 4.45 gal. fuel burn on the stop watch and a
little over 5 on the tach time. Is this what others
are burning? My instructor and another IA say this is
not enough fuel burn. They feel that it should be
around 6.5 to 7 gal/hr. On takeoff I get only 2300 RPM
but in level flight it runs about 2400 to 2450. Anyone
have any comments or suggestions? Thanks Scott

PS. My prop is a freshly reconditioned iB90-CM7150
