service ceiling of an 85 hp 415 C? Bob, That depends mostly
on weight and prop and prop pitch.
Naturally, you need to make sure your mixture control system works – but
that should be SOP, anyway. With my C-85, at
about 1350 lb., with a 7146 extreme climb prop, I’ve been able to get to 12,500
any time I wanted except once. On my big trip out
west, there was an afternoon flight when I tried to climb above the bumps
(futile) but topped out. My absolute
ceiling, leaned, was about 11,500 which was a density altitude of 14,500. Ed
