Stuart,
Funny you should ask that question, because I just had the coupling on my vacuum pump fail too. Maybe it's the start of an epidemic.
The vacuum pump on my plane is a 211CC-9. I just called Tex-Air and asked them what the difference is between a 211CC and a 211CC-9. Their answer: The 211CC is designed to mount on the back of the engine, while the 211CC-9 is designed to mount on the bottom of the engine (like on our engines). The 211CC-9 has a "bypass port" and a "deflector" that is made to keep leaking engine oil out of the pump. The 211CC does not have these features. The guy at Tex-Air said that you can install a 211CC on the bottom of an engine, but if the engine leaks oil into the pump, the pump will fail. He said the 211CC-9 is the one to use on the bottom of the engine.
Tex-Air has these pumps (overhauled) for $263.25. I didn't look for lower prices from other suppliers yet.
BTW - I have not yet found any official documentation that says which pump is approved for our engines, so use this info at your own discretion.
