I think it is subject to interpretation, Scott.  Univair does own the type
certificate, and lots of the original ERCO tooling.  They may or may not
choose to manufacture the part needed, with the PMA "inherited" with the
TC.

Fellow Coupers, I read an article from the AOPA that
mentions the FAA's attempt to classify older aircraft
that are no longer supported by a manufacturer as
orphan. As I understand this designation, it would
appear that parts and/or modifications could not be
manufactured to keep the old birds flying. My question
is, are Alons and Ercoupes in this category? Just
wondering.
