Lynn, my friends A-2-A had the same problem as yours. We changed the
bellevilles ( 4-1-03)
and about 6 months later the left wing would drop about a foot while
taxing, and three of
the belleville assemblies were collapsed and would stay that way until you
lifted the
wing. They weren't broken or anything...they just lost their
ability.
We called Univair and of course they acted like that was the first time
they had seen the
problem, yet sent use a new set (for that side only) no charge.
That solved the problem until a few months later and then the right side
did the same.
Again, Univair sent replacements N/C.
Long story short, they had a batch of bad springs I'm sure, although I
haven't seen
any talk about it until now on this group.
If your springs are not collapsing but just making a noise, you are
greasing them before installing them I trust?

I recall asking this question a few months ago, but do not recall the answers. I have an Alon coming into annual this month which snaps & pops when you step on the left wing. I have determined the sound is coming from the Belleville Springs, which seem to be over springing (bending?). In any case, has anyone else come across this problem, and if so, what did you do to solve the problem.I put a completely different stack of Belleville Springs on the strut, but got the same problem. I do not believe there is any problem structurally.Lynn Nelsen============================================================================== To leave this forum go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm Search the archives on http://escribe.com/aviation/coupers-tech/
