Only the 415C and 415CD models qualify for the
Sport Pilot rule. Those airplanes will have either 75 or 85
HP engines. To have at least a 90 and above will require a D or
later model, per the STCs. Many of the Cs and CDs have been converted to
Ds, but that disqualifies them forever from the Rule. Once converted, they
can not be brought back to the original confirmation on paper. What you
would like to have would be a C or CD that has the STC for the O-200 crank, rods
and pistons. That'll juice the 85 HP engine up a bit and will accomplish
what you may hope for. Good luck!
