Hey Doug: I have installed Cessna Seats, (the 337 is on the Coupers Web
site) as well as getting approval for the installation of Forney/Alon buckets in
a Coupe. However, these modifications reduce head room from the original two
piece seat cushion. If you are over about 6' 3", none of the seats will provide
enough room. The original design, with two separate seat bottom cushions
provides the most head room. AIRTEX does not sell the original cushions, they
sell a single piece cushion.
True, the seat design is not the best, but it works
when all the fasteners are installed. I find that generally several of the
fasteners have been left out, and this puts too much load on the ones that are
left, causing cracks to develop.
If you have or want a better seat, design it and
get an STC/337 approval PRIOR to making any changes to the airplane.
Good Luck.
