Hello All,
First, let me say that I have been around airplanes a lot longer than
computers
and apologize for not being able to cut and paste from the postings I am
referring
to, Wayne D. and WRB postings on 10/23. I, in no way agree with
using auto,
lawnmower, or garden tractor parts on aircraft. I can't
even bring myself to use
Barry Jay pucks on Goodyear brakes. WHY?
1. They are ILLEGAL, check with your attorney and insurance company
before
the accident, while you are at it, ask your mechanic or if you are one be
sure
to put it in the log book.
2. Hot exhaust gases are pretty close to the same temp
(+/- a couple
degrees) no matter - 1975 Cherokee, 1945 Ercoupe or a 2005 non turbo
Belchfire.
3. Maybe the Ercoupe T.C. did call out an automotive part here and
there,
but how do you know you are getting the same part today? Go to
the
local auto parts store, spend a day, and see if you can find a part
made
in the USA - they are almost all made in one of the following
countries
(USA not included)
John
