You might consider a "temporary," Chuck.  One that could be removed in case any problems raise their head.

If I have that hole correct in my mind's eye, it may be causing quasi-permanent carb heat.  Another thing to think about.

  Its been a while since I've asked a question.....so here goes......I was replacing the air filter on my coupe and notice a small hole between the filter and the butterfly valve on the passenger side....about the size of my thumb......why is it there? It seems it would let unfiltered air into the carb from the engine comparment......should it be plugged?
