I plan to look at a 415C this weekend in New Mexico. The aircraft has a 100hp engine. I have not gotten Gross Weight information yet; however, I am wondering if the larger engine would make this 415C ineligible for the LSA designation due to extra weight?

The 415 C is eligible for LSA operation. It makes absolutely no difference what engine is (legally) installed in the plane. As long is it is registered, rigged and operated as a C it is eligible.

The Skyport O200 STC applies ONLY to the model D. Other models, C's included, have been modified via field approval using the STC as acceptable data. I expect there are others that were done under field approval alone, as well.
