Bill, I don't know why someone couldn't just do a form 337 for the stainless steel panel and submit it, citing the FAA requirement for that panel to be stainless steel since it's part of the firewall and citing the fact that all later models of Coupe were required to have that ss panel. Even the dumber FAA wienies will probably get it right and sign off on it.
