Speed control is the key. At altitude, practice precise slow flight. Use
the throttle to maintain altitude at different slow speeds, all the way to
full up elevator and near stall (or mush). Practice gentle turns in both
directions.

Once you get comfortable with this, begin landings with lower and lower
airspeed on final and over-the-fence. You'll need to add throttle to slow
your descent rate, since the Coupes are not floaters, unlike the Cessnas.

You should be able to touch down gently (soft field) using the throttle to
control your descent rate (since you have no excess airspeed to flare).
Your landing roll will be very short since your landing speed is so low.
