I have flown a powered parachute 325 hours in the last three years and
now am faced with moving on to Sport Pilot. While I am not in total
disagreement with Sport Pilot, it does seem to be a bit of overkill for
the PPC pilots. I had anticipated getting into fixed wig aviation at
some point when I started with the PPC. With that in mind and the fact
that my father at one time had an Ercoupe, I am thinking that if I must
test out over all the info necessary for Sport Pilot, I might just as
well move into a GA aircraft. It appears that most of the other GA
planes eligible for Sport Pilot are tail draggers so an Ercoupe seems
pretty logical.

I have in fact traced the N number of the plane my father formally owned
by using the FAA website thinking that the owner might be willing to
part with it. Imagine my disappointment when I finally found the
registration on the site only to have it listed as "destroyed."

I am trying to determine which of the Ercoupes qualify for LSA and maybe
even more importantly which do not. I am aware of the FAA
qualifications just not which of the coupes will work for my purposes.
