Your Examiner does not care at about the mixture control. It is common praxis to wire rich the Strombergs and that is fine for up to 5000ft. Part of your exam is that you proof that you are able to be the pilot in command. If he really is making that mixture control an issue, then tell him it is safe to fly up to 5000ft and should be it.

I'm going over my 415C, to avoid surprises during my checkride. My mixture control is permanently set to full rich. I wonder if the FAA examiner will question and / or object this.
Any and all advice will be appreciated.
