Ercoupe Service Memorandum No. 42 specifically states: All fuel pump parts necessary for repair are available from the Continental Motors Corporation, and AC Automotive Service Stations."

I feel the need to kink this horse again.  The above statement does not somehow confer approval on parts not obtained through the above mentioned channels!  Parts obtained from AC or from Continental are (were) approved.  Other sources are NOT APPROVED.

Currently, there is no approved source for rebuild parts for these pumps.  The current PMA holder supplies rebuilt pumps, new pumps, and "Screen kits."  I have been able to obtain the cork gaskets through Continental, but they supply no other parts. AC has sold the rights to the current PMA holder and does not supply any parts any longer.

Use of any other parts obtained from any other source is at the discretion of your A&P and your IA who will be the ones held accountable should it come to accounting.  Installation of such parts without logging them is unfair to the individual doing your annual as he/(she) has no easy way of determining they are there.  On the other hand, if you can find an A&P willing to install the parts and log the installation, and an IA willing to annual the plane, then you may be on to something.   Without both of those log book entries, though, your plane is not airworthy in the eyes of the FAA.

Lest you suspect I only want to make money off this, I'll tell you that I am actively pursuing legal alternatives and should one come to be in the future, well, maybe then I can make some money.  Right now, it's hardly worth my while to stock the pumps, although I do.
