In reply to Glen Davis' question: DAWLEYAviation,Inc., Burlington VT "overhauled" my C-90 exhaust stack assemblies (minus shrouds) in April, 2005. Their Sales Invoice was in amount of $728 (for two) plus shipping. Their Misc. Fabrication Form , signed and dated by me on 3/18/05, authorized them to produce the parts iaw FAR21.303 (b) (2). The stacks were fabricated out of 321 stainless steel , appeared to be completely new when returned, and were installed by my local AP/IA who certified their airworthiness. One problem: After installation, the LH exhaust pipe proved to be too close to my lower LH engine mount steel bar. My local mech said he could heat and bend it, but DAWLEY said NO. Then they paid for overnight shipping to Wisconsin, one day repair, and overnight shipping back to Ft Pierce. Their cost was approx $175 for the shipping alone. I'm not sure, but I think the jigs used by DAWLEY were never modified to incorporate design changes (for some Coupe Continental installations) that UNIVAIR is aware of. I also believe that John Cooper at SKYPORT is familiar with this problem/situatiion. I highly recommend checking all of this out prior to sending your stacks out for repair. However, I remain convinced that DAWLEY is as good as you can do in exhaust matters. You might want to use my Sales Invoice No. 25982, when talking to DAWLEY.
