As long as there is no AD nothing is "required". I think that if you elect to have the inspection done, and come up clean, or maybe with only a few rivets requiring replacement, it would be prudent to forgo future inspections until such time as you suffer a hard landing or get caught in a thunderstorm or something similar. If they didn't fail in 60 years it's unlikely they will fail in the foreseeable future under normal conditions.
