Sean,

How often replacing the rubber donuts can be subjective, it
depends how and where the airframe is kept. Age and environment are the big
factors with rubber. I don't think there is any literature out there that
can give a definitive calendar time change. Maybe someone in this forum may
have that information. My suggestion is if you see huge cracks in the
rubber and or you tail height is suddenly getting lower while static
(rubbers being squashed) it's time to change them. All of them, not just
one or two, but all of them at once.

The springs offer a smoother ride over rough ground, your tail
height is maintained over a longer period of time but the downsides of these
springs is cost. These springs are expensive. Also if one spring cracks
within the stack, there is no way to really inspect for that, total
disassembly of the stack is required. Obtaining these parts for both rubber
and spring can be found through Skyport or Univair.

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Main Landing Gear (MLG)

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any
advice in this forum.]----

Greetings,

Main Landing Gear Questions:

1. How often should one replace MLG shock pads "donuts" - number of
landings, years of service, hard landings, or any other reasons?
2. Would Belleville's springs offer a better alternative, if so where can it
be purchased from?

Thanks -- Sean
