----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----American pilots need 12" numbers in order to RETURN to the US through an ADIZ (Air Defense Identification Zone). There is no ADIZ near most of the Canadian border, but there are ADIZ's on the east coast, west coast, gulf coast and Mexican borders.

I can't even imagine any kind of problem for an American person crossing into Canada with a small aircraftsimply because his/her aircraft has small NC..... numbers. Don't all of you folks use small nimbers ?Why would anyone up here even look ,,,, or be concerned,,,,, no big deal really coming up here. I think that American Pilots generally seem much more concerned about Regulatory Detail as do the British. Here in Canada we tend not to get so excited about Government Regulations and perhaps it is because we feel that the government doesn't ever get excited about the needs of us ordinary peasantsRon HynesAlberta, Western Canada.-------Original Message-----------[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----Oh, I most certainly agree! I'd want life vests and perhaps more (like aquick inflate raft) with me if I went over water very far. I was justcurious to if there were any direction on the matter in the regulations. You have peaked my interest in regulations that I presume are related toflying to the Bahamas. Where would I find them? I rent a Tampico (SOCATATB-9) that has made the trip out a few times and may try the feat myself. As for my particular 'coupe, I don't know if I could go to a US territory...I know I can't go out of the country (as in Mexico or Canada) withoutspecial permission as I have the small "NC" numbers. But that's a differentdiscussion.Aim High! Go Air Force!(Grin... I was in the Air Force... Of course, you don't HAVE to have flotation to fly to the Keys, butyou and your pasenger would sure be glad if you needed such! Converely, theRegulations would apply if you were flying from Ft pierce to the Bahamas ina Coupe! Good luck with that!SEMPER FIDELISDon Bowen----Original Message Follows----From: "Jason J Ellingson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>Reply-To: "Jason J Ellingson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>To: "'Ctech'" <[email protected]>Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Over Waters RegulationsDate: Mon, 6 Mar 2006 22:07:26 -0600----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following anyadvice in this forum.]----I'm looking and can't find anything in Part 91 that says anything pertainingto required items for "out of glide distance - over water" operations. Inpart 91, I see requirements for large/turbine aircraft and another list for"for-hire" flights... But neither would apply to me I guess.I'm not saying there aren't regulations requiring flotation devices andsuch... Just that I can't find them. Thanks for any help you can provide.- Jason==============================================================================To leave this forum go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm==============================================================================To leave this forum go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm
