Actually, the coupe can climb like an RV4 or better.
Even with a 75 HP engine.
 
Remember that it has been done and I am sure it can be done again,
just strap the JATO's under the wings. I don't think the army took the trouble to get a 337 on it though.
 
When I bought the coupe I avoided telling my mother that it was the first rocket powered aircraft in the US arsenal.
(She still thinks I play the piano at the bordello).
