On my old cylinders I borrowed the tool that puts a bead on the inside of the tube to get it to snug up with the cylinder head. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it did not.
Finally I got the spring loaded tube kit for about $270,-
It worked.

I even removed the pushrod tubes from my brand new Milleniums and installed the spring loaded kit tubes.
They come with silicone gaskets for the lifter covers but it is best to use the fiber gaskets here as the lower edge of the silicone ones deform enough to leak.
Use the tool to compress the springs rather than wire tie them as removing the wire scratches the tubes and creates leak paths.
The removable tubes are great because you can clean out the tappets and check valve clearances without having to pull the cylinders off.
