I have been contacted by an Ercoupe owner in Argentina that had a complete main spar made out of stainless steel and installed it and is flying.
Are you saying that he had upper and lower spar caps made out
of stainless steel or is this some sort of new design? I find it
hard
to believe that the caps could be machined and bent cheaper than
new ones, even in Argentina. If the caps are not bent for the
dihedral
after machining if would take a bodacious hunk of steel and machine
to make these and remember that the upper and lower caps are not
the same, therefore two different set ups.
