The flat windshield is more streamlined and has less drag.
The bubble windshield would have lower drag if it was in water because of the fluid dynamics of water, but it is not. There is an area just ahead of the bottom of the bubble windshield where the ir is slowed down because it is being pushed by an almost a flat wall of plastic.
Under water this works best and that is why a bulb shaped nose is best for ships and submarines. In the air things move faster and the more streamlined the better.
In my opinion, I like the flat windshield better for looks, and the fact that the flat windshield has a curved section over the top that must be cut or removed to install the bubble one. It must be very hard to find a piece like this if I was going to convert bubble back to flat, so I don't like the idea of destroying a part of the coupe that could be hard to get if one gets the urge to go for the most original look.
In addition to this, a new windshield is as easy as taking the old one to a sign place and asking them to cut another sheet to match it out of plexiglass. You will be surprised how cheap it is...
Do NT use Lexan for the windshield because Lexan does not hold up to gasoline very well.
Lexan works best for the side and back windows. It is what CD's are made of.
Try braking a CD lately?...
