Hi Glen,
I had this same problem with my Ercoupe. I changed the nose wheel, balanced it, and overhauled the nutcracker and bearings and it still had a shimmy. What finally fixed it was servicing the nose strut with plenty of grease. I pumped it in until it was oozing out and now I have no shimmy. After changing all those parts no one ever suggested that not enough grease might be the problem. So you might want to give that a try. It is an inexpensive fix.
Good Luck,
~Jeff

Folks

I know this is an old subject but I didn't save the info so please help me out...

I have a new, balanced nose wheel tire and I still have nose wheel shimmy.  What are any other likely causes of nose wheel shimmy and what is the corrective actions to fix the problem.

Thanks  (again).
