Hi Susan,
I'm catching up on past emails and found your post on your sticky
throttle. My throttle knob works easily, requiring only a few ounces
of push or pull to operate it. I think that you should have a
mechanic check to see if the cable is binding or if the carburetor has
a problem. Your throttle lock isn't engaged, is it?

Hi Syd,
Thanks for your feedback. Considering the plane had just been flown in
from Virginia by the CFI who had been flying it around, I really don't
think the throttle lock was engaged. As John reminded me, it was the
starter that I had the biggest problem with, not so much the throttle.
We do have an A&P mechanic going through it now, and John & I have
discussed that it would be preferable to replace the starter with one
which is much easier to operate.
At Sun'n'Fun, we also decided which radios & transponder we wanted
installed, and lined up the installation with an avionics shop in Punta
Gorda to handle it all, as we'd like to have the headphones able to be
plugged in behind the seats and it is easier for them to do all the
work. The guy we talked with about this said he enjoyed a great many
hours in a 415-C, so we are confident they will do a good job.
We decided that a handheld GPS with a velcro-mount on the dashboard
would be the best option for the GPS - I can then easily take it with
me whenever I leave the Coupe and not have to worry about someone
breaking into my Coupe to steal it (apparently this is a problem along
the Eastern seaboard for many GA aircraft)
I'm looking forward to having a completely airworthy Coupe to fly
around in before long. There were a few "kinks" to be worked out of
her first (such as the lack of the radios and transponder, and the
cowling needs tightening on one side, and the starter is very difficult
to operate, etc.) but overall N2141H is a very nice Coupe and we are
very pleased with our purchase.
Susan
