Glen,
If you are referring to the fuselage inner skin assembly: fig.
10 Item 30, that is the inside side panel between the window tracks. It
will protect the side window from seat belt damage, pencils, and key's,
whatever. I have found that the bottom edge of this panel will bend
downward through the years. The bottom edge of this panel also attaches to
the seat back assembly. So, when plus-sized pilots and/or passengers
squeeze themselves into the flight station, this thin sheet metal will give.
That's the problem. I've "reformed" (bent) this bottom panel edge upward a
bit and also glued a felt strip on the edge too. So far it works. Here is
something else to look for. The attaching screws from the seat assembly to
this panel sometimes can be a bit too long. They will scratch a nice deep
groove into the window.

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] sliding window problem
----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any
advice in this forum.]----
In an attempt to determine why my new windows starting scratching only 6
months after being installed, I went hunting. It seems that the thin sheet
metal that is between the windows and the seats is causing the scratching.
What is the purpose of that piece of metal?
Thanks
