Hello, this is my first post, wondered if anyone can
help me?
My grandfather was killed in a crash of a ercoupe
aircraft in 1948 near Milan, Ohio. I am trying to get
reports of the crash to "put my mind at rest" and have
the history of what may have actually happened.
The aircraft was owned by Harley Rowland of Ohio. He
and my grandfather, Bernard Millis were returning
from the world series game in Cleveland when they
found trouble. For some reason the plane went down.
Witnesses stated they heard a "whiring" noise and saw
the plane at a 45 degree angle head toward the ground.
THe plane crashed killing both men. Investigators
found gas in the tank and in the carberator. That is
about as much information as I have found.
Does anyone know if these planes had any kind of
problems , defect, or special needs that maybe were
not met? I do not know exactly which model of plane,
other than a 1948 Ercoupe. (I'm not looking to get
anyone in trouble) I am just trying to figure out what
happened. Thanks for any and all help.
