On the Aeronca list, to which I also subscribe, when we have an occasional
urge to express ourselves on a non specific Aeronca related subject, we
place #### at the beginning of the subject line. That gives everyone a
heads up to push the delete button if not interested in a non Aeronca
specific opinion. Roger

The list was moderated for some time.
As an effect it took days for some of my tech questions to pass the
censorship .
That made the list very inefficient. When I have a technical problem, I
most likely need an answer or advice very soon.
I like the immediate response of the list as it is now and I prefer the
discussion board not being filtered by someone I don't know.
I am surrounded by plenty of control freaks here in Germany already and
the list is my resort to sanity.
So please don't break it.
The few occasions of some folks abusing the list are handled
professionally and usually don't bother me much.
If you subscribed to the digest list and don't like the messages that are
not "technical discussions about maintaining and flying Ercoupes" by your
standard, then subscribe to the individual message list where you can
personally delete the messages that you find inappropriate. You would have
to do that anyway when you are the moderator.
That should fix your problem.

To the posters who suggested deleting unwanted posts: fair enough, but the
fact you didn't follow it shows that there are posts that you don't like
and are not willing to simply delete...thus making a case for moderating
the list.
And deleting posts only works for those getting individual posts, not for
the digest list.
To those who suggested that non-Tech stuff was appropriate:
"Tech is a moderated list for just technical discussions about maintaining
and flying Ercoupes. A moderated list means that anything that doesn't
meet this requirement will not be posted."
And to the several who basically told me "atta boy", thanks.
Again, why not simply moderate the list?
