Hi Marty:
Good thoughts on your over water flights! At any rate to address your question, "What kind of mileage are the rest of you getting?". With my coupe and the O-200 engine I am getting a fair fuel burn although not nearly as good as you.
On any sort of long flight (at least an hour or so) I am in the 4.5 to 5- GPH range when down low. If I get up high, 8.5 to 11.5 at full throttle I can get down to 4+ GPH with about 2500 to 2550 RPM. The absolute best I have ever done was throttled back a bit flying with another coupe on a 3+ hour flight. I was surprised by a burn of only 3.8 GPH!
That was leave Auburn, fly to Rio Linda at 2500, land to meet up with the other coupe, climb up to7.5 and 3+ hours later land at Tehachapi for fuel. And I took less fuel than the 85 hp coupe I was flying with.
Tell Andy hi, maybe see you at Arlington: Maynard, 99843, Colfax ,CA.

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Ercoupe Economy
Hi gang,
I thought I'd try the recommended economy cruise for the C-85 on my Coupe, what with the ever higher gas costs. I flew up to Bellingham and topped off and flew back to here in Renton, about an hours flight each way. I reduced power as soon as I got off the runway (both of these are about 6000 feet long), and climbed slowly at 2300rpm. as soon as I got up to 3500 ft. (which took some time at the reduced setting), I cruised each way at 2100 rpm (which I checked with my new optical rpm gizmo I just bought). My normal cruise at 2450 gets me about 95-100 mph. At 2100 I slowed about 10mph to 85 indicated, but only burned 3.2gph going to KBLI and 3.5gph cruising back south to KRNT. I believe I have a 7146 prop. My normal burn rate it 4.4gph at the higher setting. I think I figured that I went from 21.6 mpg to 25.4 mpg. For me flying is all about how long you can stay up in the air, not about how fast you can get so! mewhe re. I suppose the tach time runs a bit slower too at the lower setting. I used real time for my measurements though. I was surprised at the great economy. What kind of mileage are the rest of you getting? Another reason the Coupe is such a great aircraft nowadays.
