Eliacim.

I have a couple of stromberg carbs apart and have the manual for servicing them and the gasket kit.
Something I am going to tackle when i get the time.
It would seem like your problem relates to blockage of one of the small holes in the mixture plates. This can happen because they are connected to the intake air and can easily suck up dust. Also there is a gasket under nad over the discs that can deteriorate and clog a hole.
Furthermore, I found out that a mixture lean air hole has been drilled higher up in many of these carbs to solve the problem of fuel leaking out of the carb when the engine is shut down. The manual says that new carb body parts still have the hole in the wrong place and have to be modified. Some of the older, never serviced carbs may still have the hole in the lower position which would explain why many have to close the header tank valve when they park the plane.
The mixture control part can be taken off without taking the whole carb apart.

Regards.
Alan.
